We need you!
Are you a faculty or graduate student? You’ve got some bandwidth over the summer and want to do something good? We need experts in pretty much any area related to designing, programming, and using computers to benefit society. The 2024 program starts on Mon, Jun 10, 2024 and ends on Fri, Aug 16, 2024, with the final symposium. The altREU program is a fully online program, so you can be anywhere during the summer.
“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.” — Winston Churchill
What’s expected from me?
- You would mentor one or several (depending on your bandwidth) teams during the 10 week research experience.
- You’d check in with the individual(s)/team(s) at least once per week on a live video conference call.
- You’d provide some guidance, materials, literature, etc. to help the the team(s) move in the right direction. It’s more about asking question and providing moral support than about providing technical support. Students are supposed to do their own homework.
- We’re thinking this would require 1-2h of your time per week.
Can I propose a specific project?
We ask students to find and propose their own research projects.
What’s in for me?
- The pleasure to work with undergraduate students and to see them learn and grow.
- Gaining, expanding, improving your mentoring experience.
- Get something new on your resume.
- The possibility to continue working with the team(s) beyond the altREU program and to perhaps even publish a paper.
