We are seeking a graduate student for the summer 2024 to assist with running our new, virtual, NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Site on “Computational Modeling Serving Portland.”
AS AN REU SITE GRADUATE MENTOR AND COORDINATOR, YOU WILL:
- Prepare training modules on computational modeling, Python, Linux tools, etc.
- Teach modules to our cohort students, mainly during the initial 2-week training period (Jun 10 – 21).
- Assist students with their projects.
- Plan and host meetings with our cohort.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiar with computational modeling
- Excellent knowledge of Python
- Excellent knowledge of the Linux/Unix command line
- Outstanding oral and written communication in English
- Mentoring experience
- Available (in-person) and eligible to work over the summer (our cohort starts on Jun 10 and ends on Aug 16)
- Must currently be enrolled as a graduate student at PSU in CS, ECE, Math, Systems Science, or Physics
COMPENSATION
- Standard 3-month 0.49 FTE GRA summer appointment
- No tuition included
