OPENING: REU SITE PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR

We are seeking an undergraduate student administrator to help us run the NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Site on “Computational Modeling Serving the City.”

AS AN REU SITE PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR, YOU WILL:

  • Communicate with potential and admitted students via e-mail and phone
  • Coordinate recruiting efforts
  • Design and maintain online application forms
  • Prepare application packages for review
  • Plan and organize meetings and events
  • Arrange student travel, lodging, transportation
  • Analyze and visualize data
  • Prepare flyers, presentations, and advertising materials for the program
  • Maintain the WordPress website

Immediate Opening: REU Site Program Administrator

PSU has been awarded a new Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Site with the focus topic “Computational Modeling Serving the City.” We are seeking an undergraduate student administrator to help us run this new program.
REU site directors
  • Dr. Christof Teuscher, Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science (MCECS), Portland State University.
  • Dr. Jay Gopalakrishnan, Fariborz Maseeh Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Portland State University, and Portland Institute for Computational Science (PICS).

As an REU Site program administrator, you will:

  • Communicate with potential and admitted students via e-mail and phone
  • Coordinate recruiting efforts
  • Design and maintain online application forms
  • Prepare application packages for review
  • Plan and organize meetings and events
  • Arrange student travel, lodging, transportation
  • Analyze and visualize data
  • Prepare flyers, presentations, and advertising materials for the program

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding oral and written communication in English
  • Organizational talent
  • Familiar with Google Suite products
  • Reliable
  • Detail oriented
  • The student must be available to work over the summer

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiar with Qualtrics and Google forms
  • Ability to design flyers, invitations, etc.
  • Multilingual

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly wage: $14 (depending on qualifications and experience)
  • Approx. 5h per week during the fall term
  • Approx. 8h per week during the winter term
  • Approx. 12h per week during the spring term
  • Approx. 12h per week during the summer term

2018 Graduate Research and Mentoring Program

Applications for the 2018 Graduate Research and Mentoring Program (GRMP) are now open. For more info, see Graduate Research and Mentoring Program  (GRMP).

Application deadline: May 6, 2018

Eligibility: The program is open to PSU graduate students in ECE, CS, Physics, and Systems Science. Students must have completed at least one term at PSU. Students interested in the summer research internship need to take the ECE 508 Scholarship Bootcamp in the Spring term.
